Making a wide range of consumer electronics, such as cameras, car audio systems, washing machines, and other home appliances, Panasonic needed to evolve its network and scale it to a level where it could seamlessly support its retail operations across geographies; particular across India.

Network stability was required for its major warehouse unit in Jhajjar (Haryana), and the existing Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) connectivity at this warehouse unit was extremely vulnerable to security threats. The remote location of the warehouse caused a challenge with the last mile of connectivity with Railtel and Reliance service providers, and the high mean-time-to-recovery (MTTR) impacted network availability.

Tata Communications identified a number of solutions to help Panasonic evolve its network. To avoid frequent service degradations, the primary last mile was changed from Railtel to Vodafone.

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and audits were conducted for all MPLS and Internet Leased Line (ILL) sites to ensure that the network setup and all the equipment was in good health, and if they weren’t all the suspected devices were replaced.

Last mile migration from Offnet to Onnet (Tata Communications Media) was done for several sites to end third last mile / vendor dependency. 70 MPLS and 2 ILL locations distributed among branch offices and warehouses, incidents being effectively managed to control MTTR thus avoiding any long outage.



After understanding the challenges and identifying the solutions, Panasonic’s performance results show a marked improvement.

Our solutions lead to a 99.85% uptime thus leading to smooth transaction of services and ultimately customer delight. As well as improved uptime, there was a 60% decrease in outage, resulting in more reliable and stable network connectivity.

Tata Communications scaled the network infrastructure to a level where Panasonic could seamlessly support its retail operations across geographies with ease. All of the results enabled Tata Communications to earn favourite partner position among the suppliers to Panasonic India.
