For over 18 years, Guillaume Thoreau has worked as Product Designer and user experience architect in large companies like Electronic Arts where he served as senior UX manager for popular titles including Scrabble and Tetris. He now works as a consultant specializing in the design of digital products such as video games, mobile applications, and large web properties like Jobboom, Archambault or MyTelus.com. Well known in the Montreal start-up scene, Guillaume is also co-founder of the UXMTL group. Born and raised in France, Guillaume is based in Montreal since 2005.

Valerie holds a bachelor’s in industrial design and a master’s in planning with a specialization in “design and complexity”. Her Master’s thesis addressed participative approaches to planning practices from the perspective of environmental and social sustainability. Most recently, she has worked for the Chaire de recherche en paysage et environnement (CPEUM), the Centre de transfert technologique en écologie industrielle (CTTéI). She has also recently given lectures and practical training at the Université de Montréal. Her academic and professional training are a testament to her marked interest in social issues and for design perspectives that address aspects such as empathetic design and “design thinking.”

Cynthia is passionate about people and their various means of communication. She is dedicated to understanding how people think, interact and connect. She studied communications, one of the closest allies to the field of technology. She is a graduate of industrial design from the Université de Montréal where she developed a communications platform to strengthen intergenerational relations. In addition to her employment with TP1 as a UX Team Leader, Cynthia has mentored several start-ups and has been invited to speak at many events around the world where her intriguing and surprising approach to learning are well-appreciated. Over the course of several conferences she has shared her passion and perspective: user-focused design is a reality and not a utopian ideal.

Jonathan Bélisle

Jonathan Bélisle has been a Web entrepreneur for nearly 20 years. He is an interactive production director, dedicated UX scriptwriter, creative techie, and an inspired teacher. He studied film narratology and mastered visual thinking before mixing the two with methods borrowed from ethnography and service design to generate a playful approach to the complex problems of mobile and interactive storytelling using objects and connected media. He is the founder of HelloArchitekt, a co-founder of UXMTL, a professor of experience architecture at INIS, and a SAGA partner.

You’re probably wondering about the two ‘i’s in her name. That’s your first insight into her unique abilities as a graphic & web designer. Beckii’s malleable personality is two-fold: a rigorous work ethic and a dynamic design vision. She likes to live with a glass-half-full mantra. The inside of her bright and bubbly mind is rose colored. When presented with a challenge, a creative door opens up for Beckii who enjoys pushing the conventional, creating energy, taking risks, and riding the momentum of a visually endearing idea.

Sébastien Camden is a Montreal-based multidisciplinary designer. He began his career in design at the Cégep de Sherbrooke where he learned the fundamentals of visual communications. After earning his diploma and several awards for excellence he continued his studies at UQAM. He pursued the opportunity to broaden his knowledge in an artistic direction and motion design during a semester of study at the Haute école d’Arts et de Design in Geneva, Switzerland. He moved directly into being a self-employed freelancer working in Montreal for the past three years after graduating from University.

With 16 years of experience in interactivity, Jean-François has worked in interactive strategy and as an information architect. He has also been the head of interactive departments for the National Film Board and for 2020 strategies. He has worked on several hundred projects including the restructuring of the National Bank of Canada, Cogeco, Via Rail and others. Over the past two years he has participated in the launch of two start-ups for Tamaggo.com as User Experience Director and for Hexoskin.com. He is presently working as a User Experience consultant and is one of the founders of “Tout le monde UX” which gathers together all the UX people in the Montreal region and the Vice President of UXPA Quebec. He is also very involved in his neighbourhood as the co-founder of www.quartierhochelaga.com a hyper-local media source.

Anastasia is passionate about consumer behaviour, cognitive ergonomics and design. For over a dozen years she has been making her mark as an expert, conference member, trainer, strategist and user experience manager (UX). Her challenge: applying her knowledge of ergonomics, design and technology to create streamlined digital experiences that are efficient and engaging for the user and profitable for business. Anastasia is a co-founder of Tout le monde UX and is active in the community. She also heads UXPA-QC, the Quebec chapter of the international User Experience Professionals Association.

Pascale is a freelance user experience designer. As an information architecture and digital strategy specialist, she is fascinated by the behaviour of the users. She is learning to better understand them with every project. Constantly searching for design solutions that are both practical and aesthetically pleasing, Pascale stands out because she knows how to find the creative potential of any project; be it corporate or creative. She collaborates with clients from all fields and with businesses of all sizes. She holds a master’s in interface design and a bachelor’s in graphic design from Université Laval. Mariève Bouchard

After receiving her diploma in industrial design from the Université de Montréal, Mariève has dedicated herself to the interactions between the various elements that surround her, whether it is a product, service or even another person. She enjoys putting herself in the users’ position to better interpret what they experience and to better understand their emotions and determine their needs. Mariève began as a designer for the development of manufactured products. She also places great importance on ergonomics in all forms, whether that means cognitive, physical or organizational. As a UX at CloudRaker, she participates in projects for several clients including Natrel, Bio-K Plus and Bombardier.

Jan-Nicolas (pronounced Yann-Nicolas) has been working in communications and marketing for nearly 20 years. After cutting his teeth in large technological consulting firms he founded TP1 in 2005, hoping to draw the most talented people in the industry and build a team that will surprise clients, collaborators and the competition. Eight years later he is proud to say that all the time he spent as the head of the Tetris club at school were well spent. TP1 provides creative digital solutions. Its clients include companies including Desjardins, Industrielle Alliance, The Canadian Museum of Nature, L’Oréal, Protectron, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and the STM. Heavily invested in the industry and its social aspects, Jan-Nicolas is a Board Member of the Association des agences de publicité du Québec. He is part of a team that spearheads the not-for-profit initiative Lunch Beat Montreal where participants leave their offices to dance and enjoy themselves for an hour.

A self-taught designer with an entrepreneurial spirit, Serge is the co-founder of the Stinson Agency (based in Toronto) and currently works in creation/strategy for Wherecloud. He puts his nearly two decades of experience watching the video game industry evolve as an artistic and technological adoption vector with a mass audience. He works in Design, and he knew what he wanted to do as a career the minute he first put his hands on a Game Boy. He regularly cites Yokoi and Gallop at Cocoaheads conferences, and he enjoys formalizing his ideas and supporting the emergence of new paradigms. His brand experience and functional potential are “either turned into franchises or they aren’t.”

Marion-Isabelle Muszynski

Given that “every designer has to start somewhere”, she began her career as a machine operator at a printing company after studying design and advertising strategy. Never afraid to get her hands dirty, she took courses in library sciences to better understand information architecture. After working for large companies including Dailymotion and Publicis, she began working at will.i.am where she has dedicated herself to UX design with passion. Her most recent project is Bu, the first connected object produced by will.i.am/ in collaboration with Alto.

Julien Bigeault

For over seven years Julien has developed and generated several web and mobile projects for TONTON which he co-founded in 2008. The agency specializes in development, UX and web design and has developed several projects in the cultural and audiovisual fields. Julien designs information architecture, wireframes and functional and technical specifications. He has also previously worked as a programmer/analyst and he continues to develop for the sheer pleasure of doing so. Julien is also very involved in the Montreal music scene and has collaborated with several artists including: Poirier, Nomadic Massive, Festival Nuits d’Afrique. He has also collaborated on new concepts such as Les Beats.
