The Centre for Digital Transformation conducted The Grand India IoT Innovation Challenge to nurture India’s youth by giving them a stage to apply their academic knowledge to a practical scenario. The competition spanned four months, with 27 top institutes participating in a quest to design 'Solutions that create a better society’.
The Grand Finale took place on 16th December 2018 and Team Prajjwala from IIT Bhubaneshwar emerged victorious with their IoT-based solution to track consumers’ LPG consumption data.
Team Dominators from AIT took second prize with their concept of using IoT devices to combat mosquitoes in cities, while Team Short Circuit (BITS Pilani/Tackling power deficiency in electric vehicles) and Team Sanrakshak (VIT Chennai/Real-time data on railway line faults) were declared joint-second runners-up. The jury comprised VS Shridhar, Senior Vice President and Head of Internet of Things (IoT) at Tata Communications, and Rohit Srivastwa, Senior Director at Quick Heal Technologies Ltd., as a representative of CII among others. Tata Communications will work with select winners to build their products further.
