Bandwidth Changes
Changing the bandwidth of a live IZO™+ Multi Cloud Connect connection is a change order raised in the TCx portal. The service must be Active before it can be changed, and bandwidth is one of the Move, Add, Change, Delete (MACD) actions. Tata Communications adjusts the per-service shaping on its side; you do not need to reconfigure your own routers.
When you can change bandwidth
Bandwidth changes are a MACD action, and MACD is only available once a service has reached the Active state (technical configuration complete and billing started). A service that is still Under Provisioning or Provisioned cannot yet be changed. For the full set of states, see Connection Lifecycle.
Raising a bandwidth change
A bandwidth change is raised as a Change Request in TCx, from either Support & Maintenance or Inventory:
|
Step |
Action |
|
1 |
Open Support & Maintenance and the Change Requests tab, or find the service in Inventory by Service Id, Site ID, Site Name, Location or Alias. |
|
2 |
Start New Change Request and confirm the correct Service Type, then select the Service Id to change and click Proceed. |
|
3 |
Choose the sub-category for the change and the type of change (bandwidth) from the menu. |
|
4 |
Enter the change details in the description, attach any supporting documents, and set the target bandwidth. |
|
5 |
At Select Contact, nominate who should receive updates, then Submit. An on screen confirmation shows the request has been created. |
What happens after you submit
Once submitted, the change is validated and provisioned by Tata Communications. Bandwidth shaping is applied per service on the Tata Communications side, so an increase or decrease does not require changes to your customer premises router. As with any provisioning action, the component is re-validated after the change so that the connection continues to report correctly in inventory and on the dashboards.
Commercially, a change to bandwidth changes the recurring charge for the service from the point the change takes effect; see Billing and Invoices.
What’s on the cloud side
The cloud connection at the far end is created in the cloud provider’s console. This page covers how a bandwidth change is delivered on the Tata Communications side; where a change to the connection speed also requires the hosted connection or virtual circuit to be resized at the cloud end, see the relevant per-cloud section for the cloud-side request.
