Managing Director and Tata Communications Limited Group CEO
Vinod joined Tata Communications in April 2004, just when the company was embarking on its international growth. He was closely associated with the acquisitions of TGN and Teleglobe and assumed responsibility as Managing Director of the company's international operations. Subsequently, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer, whilst managing the Global Data Business Unit as well as the Engineering and Operations functions. Vinod has been at the forefront of Tata Communications' shift away from traditional network services towards managed services and recently, cloud computing.
Vinod was appointed as a non-executive director on the Board of Tata Communications Limited in February 2007. In February 2011, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Tata Communications Limited and Tata Communications Limited Group CEO.
With over 20 years of experience in the global telecom industry, Vinod has an impressive track record in developing business strategies and creating fast growth organisations across the world.
Prior to Tata Communications, he was Senior Vice President of Asia Netcom, responsible for generating top-line growth including strategy formulation, product marketing and sales. He was actively involved in the financial restructuring and eventual asset sale of Asia Global Crossing to China Netcom, resulting in the formation of Asia Netcom.
In 1999, Vinod joined WorldCom Japan as Chief Executive Officer. Prior to this, he held various senior positions in Global One in the United States and Asia where he has had major responsibilities in market management, sales, marketing, product management, multinational account management and operations.
Vinod is a member on the Board of the Economic Development Board (EDB), the lead government agency responsible for planning and executing strategies to enhance Singapore's position as a global business centre and for growing the Singapore economy. Vinod is also a member on the Governing Council of Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) in Singapore, a premier institution for raising human capital management capabilities in Asia.
Vinod was born in 1965 and graduated with honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India. He lives with his wife in Singapore and is a keen polo player and art collector.
Global Head, Human Resources
Mr. Goyal has over 25 years of experience in P&L Management, Human Resources, Operations, Information Technology, Corporate Communications and Program Management and has held global leadership roles in these functions across multiple geographies. He has also been involved in over a dozen M&As as well as playing a key role in the integration of these companies spread across multiple countries.
Mr. Goyal joined Tata Communications' in February 2010 from PeopleStrong HR Services where he was the Chairman and CEO.
Prior to PeopleStrong HR Services, Mr. Goyal was part of the start-up team of Aricent/Hughes Software Systems where he spent 16 years in a variety of roles including Global Head of HR, CEO of its BPO Business, Head of the Gurgaon Centre and provided direction to IT and Corporate Communication functions. He was also a Director on the Board of this listed company.
Mr. Goyal has a passion for community service and has been an active volunteer with The Art of Living since 2000.
Mr. Goyal has a Masters in Management Studies from BITS-Pilani.
President, Global Carrier Solutions
Allan leads the Global Carrier Solutions team in developing the solutions portfolio and go-to-market strategy for sales, marketing and partnerships within the Global Service Provider segment. Additionally, he is responsible for leading Tata Communications' expansion in the Mobile Service Provider market.
Allan was Vice President of Business Development, Mergers & Acquisitions for Teleglobe at the time of its takeover by Tata Communications in 2006. In this role, he was responsible for the company's major business initiatives, including taking a leading role in the sale of Teleglobe to Tata Communications, and subsequently leading the integration. Allan joined Teleglobe in 2000 as Vice President of Global Traffic Operations, responsible for all voice routing, buying and bilateral agreements.
Allan began his telecommunications career at Bell Canada where he held various roles in corporate development, finance and major alliance management. He moved to Teleglobe following the Bell Canada acquisition. Allan also spent a number of years in various senior positions – specialising in international corporate development, strategy and engineering – at Ontario Hydro and Dofasco.
Allan earned his MBA from McMaster University and his undergraduate degree in Engineering from The University of Toronto. He is also a registered Professional Engineer.
He is responsible for providing strategic direction and guidance to the company’s legal, regulatory and compliance functions.
Mr. Freeman’s responsibilities include overseeing a team of 42 expert legal counsel and support staff who are located across four continents as well as implementing and monitoring robust policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance in the various jurisdictions in which Tata Communications has operations.
Mr. Freeman has over 15 years of international, cross board, telecommunications experience representing large multinational companies in legal and compliance matters.
Prior to joining Tata Communications in April 2004, he served as General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel to several multinational telecommunications / managed services companies headquartered in Asia, the US and Europe.
Mr. Freeman obtained both his undergraduate degrees (Economics / Political Science) as well as his Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota, where he graduated magna cum laude.
President, Product Management and Service Development
He is responsible for providing the technology vision and leadership needed to support Tata Communications' network and managed services growth. He also oversees, manages, and sets the strategic direction for Tata Communications' Information Technology infrastructure.
John has over 18 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and began his career at Bell Communications Research as a Senior Engineer in 1990.
John then took his expertise to Telcordia Technologies, where he spent the next 10 years in various senior management positions. One of these was as Group Senior Vice President, Network Systems where he led a large scale software development team focused on development of high volume, real time transaction processing systems and operations support systems for telecommunications service providers. In his last role at Telcordia Technologies, John held the position of Group Senior Vice President, Wireless Product Management where he was charged with developing and growing a new business unit focused on operations software for new service introduction and service assurance solutions targeted at wireless service providers.
John earned his Masters of Science degree in Information Networking from Carnegie Mellon University and his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from The Pennsylvania State University.
Chief Marketing Officer, CEO of Nextgen Business
She is responsible for all company-wide marketing and communications across all strategic business units. She is also CEO of Nextgen business at Tata Communications, with P&L responsibility for business with the "silicon valley's" around the globe.
Julie has more than 20 years of experience in senior executive roles with leading international corporations including IBM, United Pan-European Cable (UPC) and British Telecom (BT).Julie joined BT in 2004 and became Chief Marketing Officer and President of Strategy, with responsibility for BT's £5 billion products and services portfolio. Prior to BT, Julie was with UPC in Amsterdam, Europe's largest cable company as Vice President, Marketing responsible for the Broadband business and tripled the European subscriber base in three years.
Julie also held several senior executive positions at IBM. Based in New York, she was Director of Global Sales and Distribution for Mobile Solutions and Global Director of Marketing for SME's. Based in Paris, Julie was Chief Operating Officer for IBM’s Emerging Markets in Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa and the Middle East.
Julie has also served as an advisor to the leading analyst firm, Ovum, and the X-Prize Foundation, whose mission is to create radical breakthroughs in technology for the benefit of humanity. Julie is a member of the Marketing 50 and was recognised in 2012 by' Women of Enterprise and Inspiration’ as a member of the global Power 50. She is active in the not-for-profit sector with a number of charities as a fundraiser.
Julie graduated with honours in Telecommunications Engineering from Plymouth Polytechnic, University of Plymouth. Julie is married with two sons, aged ten and twelve and lives between the UK and the Netherlands. When she is not relaxing with her family she enjoys running and yoga.
Chief Network Officer & Head—Customer Services and Operations
His key focus is to enhance the service capabilities and customer-facing activities organization for the company across the globe.
Madhusudhan is responsible for supporting Global Carrier (Voice and Data) & Enterprise Services (Network and Managed) operations including Service Delivery, Service Assurance, Service Management, Field Operations, Facility Support, Complex Solutions support, Technology Operations and Infrastructure Management. He also leads the Billing and Collections group.
His professional career spans over 25 years in the telecommunications and IT field, at BPL, AT&T, Lucent and Tata Communications in various leadership roles spanning engineering, network operations and customer service. He has led the rollout and operations of GSM, CDMA, NGN & MPLS networks across the globe during his career at Tata Communications and other companies where he has worked. Madhusudhan has also been instrumental in building organisational capabilities to support new and complex solutions surrounding Telepresence, voice & video services for enterprises, media and entertainment solutions, data centre services and cloud services.
Madhusudhan holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Vishweshwarayya College of Engineering (UVCE) Bangalore, India.
Chief Executive Officer, Growth Ventures and Service Provider Group
Rangu leads a diverse multi-billion dollar portfolio of global businesses in carrier services, mobility, data centers, cloud and media. With customers in over 100 countries, the business serves over 1600 telecom operators and reaches 85% of worldwide mobile subscribers, global Fortune 1000 companies, leading media houses and major sporting events like Formula One®.
Rangu has spent over 20 years working in more than 30 countries, connecting new markets to existing ones and turning company portfolios into ground-breaking offerings. He is a consummate relationship builder, earning customer trust, influencing policy changes, and partnering with government and business leaders in diverse cultural environments around the world.
Rangu has a history of seizing opportune moments to create change, from building the Internet Business Group at Verizon (now known as Verizon Business) back in the late 1990’s, to establishing Cisco as a major player in India and other emerging markets in the early 2000s, to recognizing the global need for cyber-security at scale in 2008. He is now applying that visionary thinking to Tata Communications’ offerings/business (or some other similar word)
Rangu holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He also has MS and BE degrees in Engineering. He lives in Princeton, NJ, with his wife and two children.
Chief Executive Officer - Tata Communications Transformation Services Ltd.
Sandeep Bhatnagar is Chief Executive Officer at Tata Communications Transformation Services Ltd. (TCTSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Communications Limited. Tata Communications is a part of the $96.79 billion Tata group. He is responsible for defining and delivering the next stage of business growth and providing overall leadership for TCTSL’s business globally. Sandeep also drives group synergies to create the ‘Service Factory’ within TCTSL for the group companies.
Sandeep joined TCTSL in May 2013 and has over two and half decades of experience in leading global organisations. Sandeep has been associated with leading Indian and multinational organisations such as CMC Limited, Siemens, HCL Technologies and Wipro Technologies in India, Germany and United Kingdom. He was instrumental in winning large transformational deals for Wipro in the telecom domain where he led the transformational engagement with a European telco and was responsible for enabling them to launch their commercial services in record time.
Sandeep is a keen learner and believes in the power of team work. He has built business portfolios and has managed and transformed complex business processes and operations in his assignments. He has developed expertise in large engagements and a deeper understanding of business verticals like Telecom, Retail, Automobile and Manufacturing amongst others.
Sandeep holds an Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Master’s degree from BITS, Pilani and has a management degree from Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi. Sandeep has also completed an Executive Management Programmes at IIM, Bangalore and Wharton School of Business, Philadelphia (USA).
Chief Executive Officer Tata Communications Payment Solutions Limited
Tata Communications is a part of the $100.09 billion Tata group. He is responsible for defining and delivering the business strategy and providing overall leadership for TCPSL’s operations in India.
Sanjeev joined TCPSL in February 2013, just when the company was embarking on its next phase of growth. With over 20 years of experience in banking, he has held a broad range of leadership positions across payments, retail banking, product management, marketing and sales.
Prior to TCPSL, Sanjeev was the Executive Vice President of HDFC Bank, responsible for top-line growth including direct banking channels and strategic initiatives. He was actively involved in transforming the channel business transformation from service to sales, scaling the ATM business by 200 per cent. His experience was instrumental in synergising capabilities across large operations and manpower teams to significantly improve cost and operational efficiencies. Sanjeev has also been associated with leading organisations such as HSBC, ANZ Grindlays Asian Paints, Tata Motors and Thermax in the past.
He has been a member on influential forums such as the NPCI Steering Committee of National Financial Switch, Mobile Payments Forum of India and Interbank Mobile Payments System, all aimed at driving industry level policies.
Sanjeev was born in Bedford, United Kingdom and graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Government College of Engineering, Pune. He also holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta; a top ranking Asian business school.
Sanjeev lives in Mumbai with his wife and a son, and is an ardent reader. He is also a keen photographer and biker.
Head, Global Enterprise Business
In his role, Sumeet is responsible for driving the growth of Tata Communications’ Enterprise business across all verticals globally, including Large Enterprises and Transformational Sales.
Sumeet has more than 20 years of telecom experience and has been with the Tata group for the last 13 years. Prior to the Tata group, he was a part of Hughes Telecom. At Tata Communications, Sumeet has been responsible for significantly growing the business over the years and has been instrumental in maintaining Tata Communications' leadership position in the enterprise data market in India. As a testament to this, Tata Communications has been awarded 'Enterprise Data Service Provider of the Year' by Frost & Sullivan in May 2012. Over the past few years, Sumeet has also led Tata Communications' foray into next generation Managed Services and has been able to build a strong customer base for this portfolio in India.
In one of his earlier roles at Tata Communications as the Head of the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance vertical, Sumeet was instrumental in building a portfolio of specialised industry solutions for the banking Industry. This business is now an independent subsidiary named Tata Communications Banking InfraSolutions Limited and provides technology solutions like Managed ATM's, Managed POS and Hosted Core Banking to the banking industry.
MD and CEO of Neotel
Prior to joining Tata Communications in 2007, he was based in New Zealand and Australia for over 12 years, working in various capacities with IBM New Zealand Limited, IBM Australia Limited, and TelstraClear Limited where, as Head of Business Markets, he focused on sales, service, solutions, product development and marketing for the business segment.
He has over 22 years of experience in the Information Technology and Telecommunications industry.
Sunil steps into his role with a set of the required skills that Neotel can leverage, having played an instrumental role in cross-leveraging Tata Communications' resources across the world's fastest growing markets as well as driving the group's Global Enterprise Solutions practice and earlier, its emerging markets strategy across Asia, Middle East, North Africa and India for both Carrier as well as Enterprise segments.
He holds an MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications together with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Medical).
Global Head, Business Excellence
Sunil brings over 30 years of experience in large global services and manufacturing industries with functional expertise in Quality, Business Excellence, Business Process Outsourcing and Automotive production. He has led multiple large-business transformational initiatives delivering significant bottom-line impact. Sunil has expertise and proven successes in the implementation of Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, Lean Sigma and Kaizen methodologies. He has been instrumental in evolving a quality framework for the BPO industry in India which helped the industry attain global leadership in its service delivery.
Sunil has led the quality efforts for GE Capital, Wipro Spectramind and Quatro Global services. At GE, he led the ‘5 sigma beta’ site and became the first certified ‘Master Black Belt’ globally. He was also responsible for implementing Six Sigma in GE’s South-East Asia operations. Under his leadership, Spectramind became the first COPC certified company to use the Six Sigma platform. He joined Quatrro Global services as one of the founding members and was instrumental in significantly improving productivity and client delivery across North America, Canada, UK and Indian operations. Prior to GE he was with the Eicher group of companies where he was part of the core team that set up their automotive venture in collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation of Japan. After successfully implementing TQM and Japanese quality systems into Eicher group, he worked as Principal consultant for the North India Operations of their new venture ‘Eicher Consultancy Services’. He started his career with Tata Motors in its Pimpri plant where he joined as a management trainee.
Sunil is a Mechanical Engineer with an MBA in Operations and Industrial Management. He has also completed an abridged management programme from IIM Ahmedabad.
