Tata Communications Awarded Nemertes 2008 Pilot House Award for Best Technology Innovation: Customer Experience and MPLS Services
Boston, MA – April 16, 2008 – Tata Communications (NYSE: TCL), a leading provider of the new world of communications, was presented with two awards at the 2008 Nemertes Pilot House Awards which took place during the FutureNet conference at Boston's Seaport World Trade Center on April 14. Tata Communications, which was recognized in two "Emerging Carrier" categories, was awarded Best Technology Innovation: Customer Experience and MPLS Services.
Nemertes Research, a research advisory firm that studies the business impact of emerging technology, interviewed and surveyed several hundred IT executives, allowing them to rate their primary and secondary service providers - with a heavy emphasis on global multinationals based in the U.S. - and to explain how they use these companies advanced services. The awards were broken down into three areas, two of which Tata Communications received awards in: Overall Customer Experience and MPLS & Ethernet Service Specific Awards. Nemertes hosted its inaugural dinner to award carriers who received the top scores from enterprise IT executives in its extensive Advanced Communications Services research project.
"We are thrilled to receive these two awards which highlight Tata Communications dedication to delivering the most up-to-date and cutting edge technology in the telecommunications industry," said Dave Ryan, Chief Operating Officer, Tata Communications in USA, who accepted the award for Best Technology Innovation: Customer Experience on behalf of the company. "This award demonstrates our continued commitment to providing unparalleled innovative and technologically advanced solutions to our enterprise customers around the world."
Tata Communications was also honored with the award for Best Technology Innovation: MPLS Services. The company provides MPLS based VPN and Ethernet services with port speeds up to 1 gigabit per second. Tata Communications manages enterprises' demanding communication requirements throughout its global network, offering access to its 300 PoPs in over 150 countries including key emerging markets like India and China.
Peter Juffernholz, Head of MPLS Services at Tata Communications, received the award at the event. Mr. Juffernholz commented, "Tata Communications' MPLS network provides superior connectivity that our customers depend on. Our company delivers a wide array of service across the Tata Global Network which reaches deep into emerging markets, and this award shows that we are aligning well with our customers' strategies in high growth regions."
Tata Communications was one of a number of the service providers recognized at the Nemertes 2008 Pilot House Awards. The purpose of the Pilothouse Award Program is to recognize the most innovative business leveraging technology and the top carriers and vendors providing technology. The key differentiator is that all awards are based on quantitative metrics that Nemertes' analysts create. For these carriers awards, Nemertes asks IT executives to rate their providers on the top buying and satisfaction criteria. The service providers who were awarded specific honors received the highest average scores in several categories.
