The Challenges
Operating in a highly dynamic, event-driven environment, the organisation faced the complexity of establishing network connectivity across new geographies for every race, often within compressed timelines. Traditional leased lines and point-to-point (P2P) connectivity models proved inefficient, introducing long provisioning cycles, high operational overhead, and limited flexibility. At the same time, the organisation required secure, private, and high-performance connectivity to support mission-critical applications such as race telemetry and global broadcast operations. Maintaining permanent connectivity for temporary race locations also led to underutilised capacity and unnecessary costs.
To address these challenges, the organisation needed a more agile, consumption-based connectivity approach that could:
- Rapidly spin up and spin down connectivity in line with race schedules
- Deliver secure, private, and high-performance cloud access across globally distributed venues
- Eliminate reliance on long-term P2P circuits for short-duration events
- Provide scalable bandwidth on demand, aligned to event-specific requirements
- Simplify operations through a centralised, globally consistent connectivity model
The Solution
Tata Communications deployed IZO™+ Multi Cloud Connect (MCC) to provide secure, private, and on-demand connectivity to a hyperscaler cloud for race locations worldwide. Key capabilities, that addressed the requirements listed above, included:
- On-demand cloud connectivity: Rapid provisioning of bandwidth at any race venue, aligned to event timelines
- Global reach: Seamless enablement across geographically dispersed race locations
- Elastic scalability: Ability to scale connectivity up or down based on real-time race requirements
- Private, secure access: Direct connectivity to cloud infrastructure, ensuring predictable performance and enhanced security
- Global Network Integration: Leveraging Tata Communications' global network to deliver secure, high-performance connectivity between event venues, headquarters, data centers, and distribution sites.
- Simplified operations: A unified connectivity model replacing multiple point-to-point and provider-dependent setups
The Result
With IZO™+ Multi Cloud Connect, the organisation achieved:
- Faster deployment cycles: Cloud connectivity established in days instead of weeks
- Optimised cost model: Elimination of annual commitments on P2P links and reduced spend on temporary connectivity
- Improved operational agility: Ability to rapidly adapt to changing race schedules and locations
- Reduced complexity: Streamlined network architecture with fewer dependencies on multiple vendors
- End-to-end connectivity: Seamless integration across event locations, media networks, and cloud environments—without requiring traditional datacenter or cloud LOAs
- Connected operations: Integrated connectivity across venues, headquarters, data centers, and distribution sites for seamless event operations.
What we learnt
For one of the most demanding, globally distributed sporting environments, Tata Communications enabled a shift from rigid, circuit-based connectivity to a flexible, cloud-centric model. IZO™+ Multi Cloud Connect empowers the organization to deliver seamless, high-performance operations—ensuring every race, in every location, is supported by secure, scalable, and on-demand connectivity.
One of the world’s largest motorsport organisations hosts multiple international racing events each month across globally distributed locations. These events demand real-time data exchange between race venues, broadcast infrastructure, and cloud platforms. With race locations constantly changing, the organization required a connectivity solution that could deliver speed, flexibility, and consistency, without the delays and complexity of traditional network provisioning.
