Today, at the Circuit of the Americas on the eve of the Formula 1® Pirelli 2018 United States Grand Prix, Formula 1® Managing Director of Motorsport, Ross Brawn and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Driver, Lewis Hamilton crowned this year’s F1® Innovation Prize Winner, James Gough. James’ ‘My F1®’ winning idea proposes a Smart Visual Assistant (VSA) that can deliver personalized, contextual data to the fans with voice text and gesture commands.
Fans of all languages and levels of technical knowledge can gain insights from the data presented through a clean, well-designed user interface to create the ultimate immersive F1 viewing experience for fans. “Through my app, I want other fans to get a glimpse of being on the inside of a sport they love. I hope that my idea will help give fans access to all the data they want, and that they’re able to use the data to not only see what’s happening but to understand why it happened.
It should lead to more people getting involved in the sport” said James. In addition to the $50,000 prize, his vision for the future of F1® may lead to the incubation and prototyping of his idea at the Formula 1® Media & Technology Centre.
