The Challenge
A leading international dairy company was grappling with growing inefficiencies across its logistics network. With a global distribution footprint, it faced significant challenges in ensuring product safety and delivery reliability. Goods were frequently arriving damaged, with reported spoilage rates as high as 14.4%, while pallet theft was alarmingly common, affecting nearly 13% of shipments. The company also lacked visibility into where and how these issues were occurring, especially across international borders with inconsistent network coverage. Managing connectivity across multiple mobile networks added further operational complexity, limiting the company’s ability to respond in real-time to transport issues.
The Solution
To address these pressing logistics concerns, Neeco deployed its Trexee global asset tracking system—an IoT-powered solution capable of monitoring location, movement, impacts, tilting and other key indicators. The solution was powered by Tata Communications MOVE™ platform, which provided globally connected, multicarrier IoT SIMs. These SIMs ensured that all Trexee tracking units had seamless, secure data connectivity across over 380 mobile networks worldwide. This allowed the dairy company to gather real-time insights into delivery conditions regardless of geography, and to act proactively when issues were detected. Tata Communications also provided encrypted connectivity and reliable network coverage, eliminating the burden of managing individual carrier agreements across regions.
The Result
The results were transformative. The damage rate for goods dropped sharply from 14.4% to just 3%, and pallet theft was reduced to under 1%—far exceeding the company’s original targets. Each delivery became more efficient, with an average of 30 minutes saved per trip, thanks to optimised route monitoring and visibility. The solution also enabled the dairy company to adopt more flexible and reliable delivery schedules, ultimately improving customer satisfaction. By integrating IoT, analytics, and global connectivity into its logistics operations, the dairy company not only gained control over its supply chain but also unlocked significant savings and performance improvements—turning a critical business challenge into a competitive advantage.
