As a company, we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation, with the safety of our employees and business continuity for our customers and partners our top priority. We regularly communicate best practice advisories, and have put in place precautionary measures to protect our employees and ensure business continuity for us and our customers including:

  • The implementation and continuation of work from home for all employees globally, with the exception of some essential roles that need to be conducted from an office or on location for critical network maintenance. In these cases, arrangements have been made to ensure their safety and protection.
  • Globally, as businesses gradually reopen, we continue to prioritise virtual meetings and events and are assessing face to face business meetings and travel requests based on business needs and customer requirements, in compliance with local government policies, applicable laws, rules and regulations and bearing in mind all safety precautions

Tata Communications is fortunate in that – as a global company with a highly distributed workforce – we’ve had flexible working policies in place for some time now. These policies include work from home and flexible working hours. A variety of virtual collaboration environments and unified communication and collaboration technologies are widely adopted within our company.

We assure you that the safety of our employees and business continuity for our customers and partners is our top priority. We have robust processes and procedures in place. As businesses around the world define ways to reopen safely and gradually, we continue to work through our preparedness on a variety of scenarios as part of our business continuity plans.

We are committed to monitoring the situation closely across regions, considering, local government mandates and decisions, and have planned for a range of outcomes as the situation continues to evolve.

As part of our business continuity planning and preparation, Tata Communications has deployed a taskforce – overseen by our Global Management Committee that is led by our CEO – to continuously assess the COVID-19 situation. We have a clear command and control matrix, covering all functions, with effective backup and resiliency. This Global Emergency Response team is also in continuous interaction with national governments and health authorities to ensure best practice in health and safety while maintaining business continuity.

We are prepared today, and will continue to monitor the situation, evaluate our preparedness and change our plans as the situation evolves. We have taken strict precautions to protect our people, and their families while minimising any potential impact on services provided to our customers and partners due to local government mandates and regulations.

As part of our business continuity planning, we have a clear command and control matrix, covering all functions, with effective backup and resiliency.

We are accredited and certified with several ISO standards, and our operational processes and services are audited for availability and continuity regularly to protect the services we provide for our customers. There are no known non-compliances or restrictions that would prevent us from executing our relevant business continuity plan in a timely manner.

Furthermore, our business and our operations are built for maximum flexibility and agility. For example:

  • We have a distributed workforce worldwide.
  • Our customer service team members’ work is spread across different locations for maximum global coverage.
  • Most of our employees are fully equipped to work from home, leveraging mobile devices and cloud-based tools, and supported by specific and robust security processes and policies for remote working.

Finally, we are actively engaging with the third parties and partners that support us to strengthen the continuity of our operations further and minimise impact as local government mandates and regulations continue to evolve with the situation.

Given our robust infrastructure, we have implemented work from home for all employees globally and 90% of our workforce is working remotely, with the exception of some essential roles that need to be conducted from an office or on location for critical network maintenance. In these cases, arrangements have been made to ensure their safety and protection.
